I’ve had a passion for the Barenaked Ladies since the Gordon days - I heard Enid on an obscure radio station somewheres and somehow ended up grabbing the album. The crazy thing about the Ladies is this - people tend to think they’re a novelty band, but there was a ton of dark shit on Gordon - “The Flag” and “Wrap Your Arms Around Me” being two contenders to that accolade.
This song’s from a Greatest Hits album, but it sounded a lot more poignant when Steven Page left the band a few years back. It’s also an extremely inventive music promo as it takes past Barenaked Ladies promos and gives them a nice spin thanks to a bit of mouth compositing. Sometimes the effect works extremely well and it’s rather ghoulish. Enjoy!
